Nusa Lembongan has no airport of its own, but the journey is simpler than it looks: a short drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) to Sanur harbour, then a 30-minute fast boat across the Badung Strait. Door to door, most guests reach Jungutbatu beach in about 90 minutes.
Step 1 - Bali Airport to Sanur Harbour. The drive is roughly 17 km and takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. You have three easy options: the official airport taxi counter in the arrivals hall (fixed fare, around IDR 250,000-300,000), a Grab or Gojek from the designated ride-hailing pickup point (usually IDR 150,000-200,000), or a pre-booked private transfer waiting with your name sign. Leave a buffer for the Bypass road at rush hour.
Step 2 - Fast boat from Sanur to Lembongan. All boats now leave from the modern Sanur harbour near Matahari Terbit beach. The main operators - The Tanis Express, Setia Fast Ferry, D'Camel Fast Ferry and Scoot Cruise - run departures roughly every 60 to 90 minutes from early morning until about 5pm. A one-way ticket costs around IDR 100,000-175,000 per person, with return deals available. The crossing itself takes 30 to 40 minutes.
Booking tickets. In high season (June to September and the Christmas-New Year weeks) book your seats a day or two ahead - online, via the boat company's WhatsApp, or through us. Check in at the harbour counter at least 30 minutes before departure. Large bags travel on the roof or in the hold, so keep passports, phones and cameras in a small daypack with you.
The wet landing. Some boats dock at floating pontoons, others land right on the sand at Jungutbatu or Mushroom Bay - you may step into ankle-deep water. Wear sandals and shorts, and let the crew carry your suitcase; they do this a hundred times a day.
Step 3 - Arriving at Nusadira. If your boat lands at Jungutbatu pier, the villa is a short stroll or a five-minute golf-cart ride away. Arrivals at Mushroom Bay take about ten minutes by island truck-taxi. There are no ordinary cars on the island - expect small trucks, golf carts and scooters, which is half the charm.
Timing your flight. Aim to land at Bali airport at least three hours before the last boat (around 5pm). If your flight arrives in the evening, spend a relaxed night in Sanur and cross in the morning - the sea is usually calmest before noon, especially in the wet season from November to March. If you are prone to motion sickness, take a tablet 30 minutes before departure and choose a seat at the back of the boat.
The easiest option of all: let our concierge arrange the whole journey door to door - airport pickup, reserved boat seats, and a golf cart waiting for you at the pier. Simply send us your flight details when you book, and step off the plane knowing every leg is handled.
